Happy and Sad

"I am both happy and sad at the same time, and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be." Stephen Chbosky

I think I had a happy day today?  I can't believe I am writing that, but I can honestly say that I enjoyed our sick day today.  Gavin and I had a lot of fun just being together with nothing to do but wipe noses and spend all afternoon in our fuzzy robes.  Even when he put on my necklace with Ty's locket and wanted it open so he could talk to Ty, I didn't get teary-eyed.  I liked watching him try to interact with his brother (until he got a little too rough with the locket and I almost freaked out!).  I did feel bad when he said "but he's not talking back to me," and I told him I wished he could talk back to all of us, but not to worry because he is always with us and listening to us and telling us things in his new and special way.  Gavin doesn't really get that - of course - but he seems okay with those kinds of explanations, which is a blessing.

How can I begin to thank you all for the constant flow of photos today.  All of your efforts in support of Stand Up to Cancer were outstanding.  My phone started firing up around noon today and I swear it hasn't stopped since.  I just heard the new message alert twice while writing the previous sentence alone!  Make that three times because it just went off again!  I have seen probably over 100 SU2C signs that honored Ty, TLC, SuperTy, Ty Louis Campbell and all of the kids!  We are all so blessed to have such incredible support and we can't thank you enough.  That simple gesture of taking a photo with a placard means so very much.  It really does.  So... thank you.

I am happy to share with you the link to our new website.  I am still trying to track down some login information for the superty.org URL - which will also have a new look where you can easily access the blog, the foundation or the muddy puddles project - but until them I'm so happy to show you the website specifically designed for the foundation.  The most important element is everywhere, and that is simply Ty.  His smile is on almost every page because we always want to remember who started all of this and why we are doing what we are doing.   Heck, he is in the logo!

I did not do this alone.  I had several people helping every step of the way.  First, the logo designer.  She is a mom in Georgia who offered to help and she has blown me away with her incredible designs for both the foundation and the Muddy Puddles Project.  Then, there is the website team.  Namely, a friend who I've never met named George.  He took our vision for the website and made it everything we hoped for and more.  Last, my friends, foundation volunteers and colleagues who helped to proofread and test the site along the way.  THANK YOU.

There is still time to nominate me as an unstoppable mom contest on the Kelly and Mike show(humble as I want to be, I also really want to get on this show to spread awareness so I'm just going for it... that's it... pick me for unstoppable mom!).  In addition, there is another contest with Self Magazine for "Women Doing Good."  For those of you who saved your written nominations for unstoppable mom, please consider repurposing them for this contest as well.

  2. I came to find your information for a nomination and instead of scrolling through old posts, here it is. What a great coincidence! And even better, I got to check out the new site. It is simply amazing! I love the new foundation page. I can see all the hard work on every bit of it! I am so happy to see Ty everywhere. Today, while I was with my husband and 3 year old daughter at the park, a ladybug landed on my chest and started to crawl. My husband said, Look, it's Ty. He's letting you know its going to be o.k. It gave me a great sense of HOPE and I'm so thankful in so many ways to Ty! I am a breast cancer survivor with an upcoming 'check' to make sure there is no recurrence and have been very nervous to say the least. Thanks Ty! you'll always be my SuperHero. Thanks Cindy, I felt so honored to get my own lil piece of Ty in the mail. His Thank you is proudly displayed on my fridge :) God Bless and prayers always for more HAPPY days. Hope you and Gavin are feeling better soon.

  5. I was so broken hearted when I tried to print out the SU2C placard and my printer wouldn't work. I wanted so much to show my support. I spent all day watching other people post their wonderful pictures. My thoughts never left Ty and I told so many customers at work all about him and his fight. I LOVE YOU TY <3

The website is AWESOME! I'm sure there will be tweeks made to it but I think it's incredible. I can't wait to order more Ty gear. I'm so looking forward to the muddy puddle project too. What a way to raise awareness and let kids be kids. Cindy, you ARE an unstoppable mom and I am so honored to call you friend.

    All my love ALWAYS,

  6. Hi Cindy,

The website looks terrific! Such a beautiful job!

Here is a question for you--will there eventually be additional SuperTy branded merchandise like bracelets, magnets, pencils, etc.? I would love to be able to order those kind of items in bulk to pass out as favors for an upcoming event I am hosting this May. There are so many generic gold ribbon sites, but I'd much rather the exposure and the funds from purchasing these items directly support The TLC Foundation.

  8. When you have a happy day, i have a happy day. How is it possible that I have connected to your family without ever meeting you?
My husband father has passed away 3 days ago, and my husband is home mourning his loss. My 5 and 4 yo boys are being so sweet to him and are explaining to all the people who are coming that daddy is upset because his daddy died, but they also explain to all the people that Ty died too and that would love to know him and Gavin so much. I am so proud that my talking about Ty is being heard even if its just by my little boys, but its important to me that Ty wasnt just a sick boy who died, its impptant that he keeps on living we keep or talking about him his beauty his smile his special gift of being the most amazingly beautiful boy who fought so hard. In my eyes he never lost his battle, its us the adult who didnt make it possible to him to go on because we still didnt find the cure, we still dont give enough. My best friend who is a pediatrician came over last night and I spoke to him about Ty, and he was arguing with me that my information about no new drugs for kids in the past 12 years being out is wrong. He said he knows better because he is a doctor. I explained facts to him and he refused to believe. Thats just brings me to the point of saying that if educated doctors are not aware of these facts how could regular people believe them. The only way is to have it in front of their eyes, brochures, TVs facebook, anything. People dont know, or maybe people dont want to know. I tend to believe that once they see Ty they would care. Ty, I promise you to never give up and never stop arguing that we dont do enough. And thats how you are winning the battle. I love you always. And you little Gavin, are the most loving sweetest boy in the world. My boys cant wait to meet you. Never stop talking to Ty, he is always listening, and one day you will feel his answers. Love you Campbell family.

  9. So grateful you enjoyed your day with Gavin. You deserve that blessing. You also deserve to remember Ty with smiles as well as tears. That is a good thing, remember that. Ty is smiling big knowing you are beginning to heal.

He is smiling even bigger at the awesome website! Wow. I have looked at several other sites since Ty became part of my life & inspired my quest for information and the desire to do something. Your Foundation website is fabulous. Easy to navigate, informative, inspiring and uplifting! (Of course, I may be just a tad biased, since you all mean so much to me! :)!)

My kids and I will be looking at it, planning our ways to help raise funds and awareness and taking Ty with us on the journey. Thank you Campbells for blessing me by sharing your sons story. I can never thank you enough.

  12. The website looks amazing Cindy - such great information - so easy to navigate. Everyone did a wonderful job and the writing on the site, just like the blog, is superb. The timeline of Ty's cancer journey is incredible - to re-read all that he endured, there is no question he is SuperTy always and forever. And it definitely reminds me why I'm joining in this fight - no kid should have to suffer the way Ty did. I wish I could have done something more for him - but I vow to work with you and raise $$ in his name to help others. Love to you all - so glad you and Gavin had a nice day together.

  13. I first want to say that your family continues to inspire and amaze me. Ty will continue to do great things and help kids with this monster of childhood cancer. Secondly, I have to stop taking a break at work to read this. I start crying in my office every time. Lastly, my three year old and I went out and found some muddy puddles this weekend in Tennessee. It was all in honor of Ty. Love and prayers for you all.

  15. I'm so happy the website is up and running! I am going to order several shirts. I'm having trouble when it comes to ordering the men's shirt...just brings me to the paypal site but puts nothing in my cart. I tried this with a size Small. Also, is there a way to add several different types of shirts to one order or do you need to order each shirt separately? So far that's all I'm able to do. Thanks! Forever thinking of Ty <3

  25. The new website is Amazing! I love it!!! What a tremendous and well deserved way to honor Ty. I am so impressed with the groundbreaking research projects that you are involved with! There is no doubt in my mind that there are big changes on the horizon for the pediatric cancer world.

Please don't ever feel funny about asking for things like nominations or signing a petition. After what you have been through, it truly is an honor and makes me feel like I am doing something positive by taking 20 minutes to try to put into words how wonderful and deserving you are. I know without a doubt that you are NOT looking for a "pat on the back" but rather to increase awareness & funding. Please keep asking because this is how change happens. TY'S FACEBOOK PAGE HAS OVER 15,000 LIKES! What a tremendous audience you have. You WILL be heard...
